José Luis Sola began his musical studies with the Boys Choir of Navarra (Spain) under the guidance of Father Goicoechea. Tenor, Ricardo Visus heard him and, recognizing the extraordinary qualities of this impressive young singer, agreed to take José Luis on as a student. Over the last few years, Visus has worked with Sola expanding repertoire and introducing him to the lyric stage of concert and opera.

José Luis has won several important prizes, including the highly competitive Julian Gayarre Competition and Scholarship in 2002. He was awarded a Scholarship “Extraordinaire” from the government of Navarra, and is the recipient of the special “Critic’s Award”, as well as “Best Interpreter of Spanish Music” from the International Song Competition held in Bilbao.

Sola has also been increasingly in demand across Europe and In April of 2005 he was introduced to audiences in the Upper Midwest in the United States by Visus, former professor of voice at Moorhead State University. His appearances included concert performances and master classes in voice for individual students as well as choral singers within educational settings.
